Everyone who has known Scott understands that he never met a stranger but met some stange people in his time. We have known Scott and Diane for over 40 years and have met some of these folks ourselves. So out of many Scott stories I have decided to share this one.
Many years ago when Scott and Diane still had the Stillwright Point house in Key Largo the downstairs apartment was rented by a fellow who often did not pay his rent and Scott was too kind to push him. My husband, John, kept his boat in the canal behind the house and often went down to Key Largo to fish. He would sometimes berate this renter to pay Scott or be evicted. Finally the guy moved out and , guess what, John then leased the downstairs from Scott and we enjoyed it for ten years. Later on Scott decided to build his house on the Bay, one of many we watched him build over the years. We subsequently bought the Stilwright Point house from Scott and own it to this day having stored many memories there.
It happened that one year when we were down from Atlanta for the winter Scott was asked by one of his Keys "buddies" to use Scott's scenic backyard and gazebo on the Bay for his wedding. Scott, who was never good at saying no, agreed. When we heard it was to be a motorcycle wedding I begged to come to see it. So the four of us sat on an upstairs porch to watch as the guests who gathered in the front yard rode one by one and sometimes two on a bike around the house and into the backyard experiencing the din created by so many bikes. Many guests were dressed colorfully in their biking leather in spite of the balmy weather and one woman I remember in short shorts and high heals. When time came for the wedding party the groomsmen took their turns riding in wearing T-shirts with tuxedos imprinted on them. The bridesmaids rode on the bikes behind them carrying flowers. At last the groom with his bride behind him, he in his leathers and T-shirt as I remember and she the same but holding her bouquet and with veil flowing behind in the wind. Most guests dismounted from their bikes and the noise subsided. The ceremony was without clergy buy very nice and appropriate for the occasion.
We thought this was over but refreshments then arrived, beer and pizza. During this time a rough, tough looking woman came with a friend up on the porch where we sat and asked Diane if they could use the bathroom inside the house. Diane naturally was a bit uncertain having visions of a hoard of unknown bikers coming in also but she graciously said yes. This turned out to be the same woman who had reportedly shot her boyfriend in his bed in the downstairs of what was by then our house, Yes, Scott's previous renter! Fortunately he lived.
One of many Scott stories during the years we were privileged to be his friend and laugh with a guy who often told on himself sometimes embarrassing and always funny escapades and embellished them more each time he shared them. I smile when I remember that I always threatened to write a book about Scott and wish that I had.
RIP Scott, we love you. Pat and John Bridges

We were stunned to hear of Scott's passing. I've known Scott for the almost 46 years he and Diane have been married. We could not have asked for a more caring and loving brother-in-law. Sarah and I will cherish all the memories we have of our time spent with he and Diane. Scott enjoyed life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He always had a special smile and a twinkle in his eyes. We know he will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Sarah and I love him dearly.
Blessed ar they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4
